A hub for women’s cycling with a new look

Sturdy Girl Cycling, started in 2003, is women’s cycling team based out of the Philadelphia region. Their mission is to offer opportunities for women cyclists to enhance their physical fitness, improve their performance and cycling skills by offering clinics, regular group rides, and team support for one another.

After 15 years under their belt, they approached us for a new team kit design, socks, and retail t-shirts. We took it another step further by creating a new website design.

PAST TEAM KIT DESIGN

DESIGN REQUESTS:

• Colors palette. The team has a mix of people who wanted something more edgy colors, and others who love to pink and pastel colors. We wanted to keep ties to their existing Sturdy Girl identity so their identity wouldn’t be lost. We did this by updating their color palette.

• Flowers. People wanted to keep the flowers element, but not the current flowers. We created an abstraction of a flower with a stain glass window style to it. This has ties to a flower design, but not as literal.

• The Teams Bond Together. Sturdy Girl Cycling is built from the bond the team has for one another and that is something that has crafted their heart and sister hood together. With the teams other values in mind, we created another pattern element.

DESIGN APPLIED

We took the design elements and created a cycling kit design including short sleeve jersey, long sleeve jersey, long sleeve skinsuit and bibs. We as well created a sock and t-shirt design.
